Try to enhance reading habits: Dr. Shantaram at the International Conference on Managing Library and Information Systems in the Digital World: Challenges and Opportunities

Dr. H. Shantaram, Administrative Officer, Academy of General Education  expressed his perception about libraries based on 60 years of his experience attached to the educational sector.
 Dr. Shantaram expressed that professional degree in any education is better than having a general courses. As these general courses cannot contribute towards innovation in any discipline. Dr. Shantaram called upon librarians to make efforts to attract the digital native citizens. He expressed his concern about the decrease in the reading habit of the users especially among new generation.  strongly opined that professional degree which promotes innovation in any education is better than having a general course. He called upon librarians to make efforts to attract the digital native citizens and at the same time focus on enhancing reading habits among youths.

Dr. Shantaram called upon bringing the best practices to enhance the reading habits and use of conventional and digital resources. He was speaking in the  16th MANLIBNET, the International Conference on Managing Library and Information Systems in the Digital World: Challenges and Opportunities was jointly organized by T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) and Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) from May 7 to 9, 2015 at TAPMI, Manipal, Karnataka. The inaugural session of the conference was organized in K.K. Pai Hall, TAPMI, Manipal, on 7th May 2015.
